Overview
This Privacy Policy describes
the policies between BookLetters and Subscribing Libraries related
to this email newsletter service only. This Service contains
materials that link to Web services operated by third parties.
We have no control over those other services, and this Privacy
Policy does not apply to them. We encourage you to refer to
the privacy policies, if any, of those services.
Your use of this Service constitutes
your acceptance of all of the terms and conditions contained
in this Privacy Policy. We may change the terms of this Privacy
Policy, so Users are encouraged to review this page from time
to time. Your continued use of this Service following the posting
of changes to the Privacy Policy means that you accept the changes.
Information
Collection
We gather and store e-mail addresses
of patrons on behalf of usersas part of this service. We may
also record other information that identifies users' computers
to this Service and tracks behavior on the Service. Methods
used to collect this information may include "cookies," which
are small amounts of data sent to your browser from a server
and stored on your computer’s hard drive. Most browsers allow
Users to block the receipt of cookies, but doing so may compromise
your ability to use certain features of this Service.
Use of Information
We use this information to send
e-newsletters to library patrons as authorized and controlled
by library personnel from the Tool Kit. We also use this information
to better understand the needs of our users, improve security,
administration, and to help diagnose problems with e-mail delivery.
We do not sell, share, or otherwise disclose this information
to any outside parties, however, we may disclose aggregated
anonymous statistics about many Users to advertisers and other
affiliated and unaffiliated companies. We monitor e-mail "bounces"
on behalf of users and may from time to time delete selected
e-mail address from the library subscriber lists, that we believe
to be inactive or inaccurate. We consider and treat the subscriber
lists of our users as their sole property and provide current,
complete and accurate listing of such to the designated Library
BookLetter control person, upon request.
Security
We limit the amount of data we
collect and we use reasonable security safeguards to protect
Personal Information we collect from unauthorized access, use,
modification or disclosure. However, due to the design of the
Internet and other factors outside of our control, we cannot
guarantee that communications between you and our servers will
be free from unauthorized access by third parties.
Termination
Practices
Upon Termination of this service between BookLetters and the
user, BookLetters deletes and destroys all subscriber e-mail
address listings collected on behalf of the user so as not to
make possible our future use or availability of those lists
to others.
